The theme of the conference is 'if not you, then who? If not now, then when?' encouraging our delegates to make it happen for themselves!

Mark Beaumont, record-breaking long-distance British cyclist, adventurer, broadcaster, documentary maker and author will be the Keynote speaker at this event and will engage the audience with his presentation entitled: "Around the World and back to Dundee".

We are also delighted to welcome to the stage Kristine Moody of Team Magnus. Kristine Moody set up family outdoor gear supplier, Team Magnus, from her Perth base five years ago, and since then has seen the company go from strength to strength. Kristine puts this success down to a number of key factors. First, an innovative product development programme, leading to a steady stream of new and creative products. This, plus a focus on creating an authentic image of the Scottish outdoor lifestyle, especially to people who perhaps yearn to get away from the daily slog of city life have helped Kristine to build the brand.

Our third speaker is the fantastic social entrepreneur, Collette Norval. Collett is co-founder and Managing Director of the newly launched social start-up, Social Stuff Ltd, creators of SQUAD scarf. Based in Aberdeen, the social enterprise manufactures multifunctional snoods for sports supporters and outdoor enthusiasts, with the aim of giving 100% of its profits to charities and good causes.

This Conference is brought to you by Business Gateway, in partnership with Elevator and the University of Dundee Centre of Entrepreneurship.

Emotion and Empathy in B2B Selling (CEED)

1:30pm - 4pm, Room 1502, Abertay University, Bell Street, Dundee, DD1 1HG

Companies are finding it increasingly challenging to differentiate their offerings and establish their USPs. This is due to a variety of factors including technology, instant knowledge transfer and increased global competition, as a result it is now much more about how we sell rather than what we sell.

Customers are becoming ever more demanding and are seeking suppliers who can offer “customer delight”, insights, solutions and a close relationship.  Research shows that even in B2B sales, buyers base their decisions much more on emotion than logic.  At the sharp end of the customer journey, companies who can really engage with their existing and potential customers will reap big rewards.

Sandy McCurdy of Sales Coach Scot will present the knowledge, skills and processes required to achieve customer delight. It will cover the importance of understanding and tackling the emotions of the buyer and how to use empathic/people skills to achieve sales success.

In addition, we will have input from the final year Dundee Business School students on their Innovation for Global Growth workshop – see attached for further information.
