Enterprise Business Challenge 2010
From the 3rd to the 5th September 25 young people aged between 15 and 22 years old from Aberdeen City & Shire and Tayside will take part in the 2010 entrepreneurial boot camp, at Dounans Outdoor Centre, where they will have the opportunity to develop their business talents.
The young people will take part in physical and mental activities as well as creative challenges to test team-working, leadership and communication skills. They will also be given the task of creating a business plan and pitching it to a panel of investors. Teams will be supported by a young entrepreneur who will provide guidance, motivation and learning throughout. They will try things they've never done before and be tested to their limit to develop the commitment and dedication required to be successful in business.
Enterprise developed the Business Challenge to support the efforts of the Scottish Government to promote social inclusion for all people in the field of economic development through entrepreneurship. It is spearheaded by Gary McEwan, chief executive of Enterprise. Gary displayed many entrepreneurial talents from a young age, however was never given the opportunity to develop these. Despite leaving school with no formal qualifications, he went on to become UK entrepreneur of the year when he was 26.
