A grand up for grabs!

With an estimated 15 million users eBay is a fast growing virtual market place. Whilst many people use the website to sell off their unwanted possessions there are those who are using it to make their living.

Business Gateway is encouraging retail entrepreneurs to make the most of this burgeoning resource and reminding those aged between 18 and 30 that they can apply for a grant of £1,000 to help them get their business started.

Alistair Reid of Business Gateway comments, "Budding entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 30 can apply for a grant of £1,000 to help them realise their dreams of becoming their own boss. The grant is designed to help young people to get their ideas off the ground. Those contemplating entering the retail arena should consider joining the estimated 68,000 people who make all or a substantial part of their living by selling things via eBay."

Business Gateway provides a wealth of resources both to those considering setting up their own business and to growing businesses. Alistair explains, "As part of the wide range of support we offer we can provide information and advice relating to using eBay as a successful and efficient sales channel.

"So far we have run a number of free workshops aimed at those looking to utilise eBay as a retail outlet for their business, there are plans in place to hold more workshops in the coming months. Anyone interested in registering for a place should contact 01467 672535."

The Business Gateway service in Grampian is delivered by Enterprise North East Trust. For more information telephone 01224 289725 or visit www.bgateway.com.
