Women in Business event

Business star Rachel Elnaugh, one of Britain’s highest profile female entrepreneurs, is to speak at a Women in Business networking event. The free event is being held at 6.30pm on Monday 30 October 2006 at the Patio Hotel Aberdeen and is being organised by Scottish Enterprise Grampian.

Rachel, who started her first business at the age of 24 will speak about the high and lows of setting up and running your own company. She comments, "I am keen to continue to encourage and support enterprise and entrepreneurship throughout the UK. It is important that those who are running or considering setting up their own business are aware of the realities of what this entails.

"As such I plan to provide those attending the Women into Business event with an overview of my experience of the peaks and troughs of being in business. I will also be available to answer questions that those attending the event might like to put to me."

Aside from her role on Dragons’ Den, Rachel is famous for founding Britain’s "gift experiences" market which is now worth £200 million annually to the travel and leisure industry. She recently launched The Life Changers, with her first business CD "Escape The Rat Race", which provides advice and inspiration for the budding entrepreneurs.

Rachel is also encouraging business leaders of tomorrow to attend the Business Start Up Show which is being held on Saturday 4 November 2006 between 10 am and 4 pm at the Business School at The Robert Gordon University.

"Anyone considering setting up their own business should take this opportunity to access a wide range of information on subjects including market research, patenting and business skills. There will be a wide range of experts on hand to provide information and advice."

The event will also provide an opportunity to put questions to a Business Gateway panel of experts. Chris Oliver, Managing Director of Red Spider, Stuart Ebdy of White Spark Communications and Colin Yule and Robbie Cheyne of Capture Imaging are amongst the successful entrepreneurs who will participate in a question and answer session drawing on their business experiences to provide information and advice to those attending the event.
