Garioch Disappointing
The deadline for the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise has been extended until Tuesday 28 February 2006 to allow more businesses to submit their entries. The awards which are in their seventh year are organised by Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) and sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland and Business Gateway (supported by SE Grampian). Chris Travis, Chief Executive of Enterprise comments, “Aberdeen companies are responsible for 60% of entries thus far; the entries from areas such as Garioch have been disappointing so far this year, making up only 12.5% of the entries received to date. We know that there are many progressive and dynamic companies in the area and we’re slightly disappointed that entries from the area are so low to date compared with overall entries. We hope that by extending the deadline, companies will be encouraged to enter the awards to compete for recognition for their business achievement.” Entrants in The Alick Buchanan Smith Spirit of Enterprise Award include: • Mitchells, Inverurie Entrants in the Young Business Category include: • Davidsons Specialist Butchers, Inverurie • Poseidon Engineering, Oldmeldrum There are six categories in the 2006 Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise.
