Aberdeen Companies Leading Entries

Date: 09 Feb 2005

Companies from Aberdeen are leading the way in entries for the 2005 Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise. Half of the entries so far for the awards come from the city, bucking the trend of recent years. However, key sectors such as oil, gas and energy are not yet represented in the entries. The awards recognise business achievement in the north east of Scotland for companies of all sizes and are sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland and Business Gateway. The awards are organised by Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise).

New business category entrants from Aberdeen include:

  • The Car Clinic in West Tullos
  • PMM Food Ltd in Queens Road
  • Rent PCs in Torry
  • White Spark Promotions in Bedford Road

In the Young Business category for businesses up to three years old entrants include:

  • Just A Cut for Men in the Castlegate
  • Nav-e-gate4less of the Bridge of Don
  • Jim Hay Motorcycles in Mearns Street

imPROVLtd is entered in the Business Growth category for businesses over 3 years old which can display significant growth in that period.

The North East Scotland Credit Union based on Poynernook Road is entered in the Sir Ian Wood Award for Innovation.

"We’re very pleased with the level of entries we’ve received this year since we introduced the simplified first round entry form," says Chris Travis of Enterprise. "I am particularly pleased to see such a large number of entries from Aberdeen businesses which have been traditionally slow to enter for the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise. There are however some sectors such as oil, gas and energy which are not represented in the entries to date, so I would encourage these companies to enter before the closing date."

The deadline for applications is 18th February 2005 and the shortlist of finalists will be announced in April and the awards ceremony will take place in June at Ardoe House Hotel by Aberdeen.

Application forms are available at www.enetrust.com, from branches of the Royal Bank of Scotland and by calling Enterprise North East Trust on 01467 672500.
