Event to Help Build Businesses in Buchan
Date: 31 Jan 2005 Enterprise North East Trust is holding a series of workshops over the next three months to encourage new firms to start-up in Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Banff. The seminars will run from January to March 2005 as part of the Building Buchan New Beginnings programme. For those who have a business idea and want some advice on how to get started, the first event in the series will give an introduction to self employment. It will highlight the main points that people need to consider when setting up their own business, and will be held at the Peterhead Business Centre, Links Terrace, Peterhead on Monday 31 January 2005 from 6pm – 9pm. The second event will take delegates through the process of how to think laterally and encourage creativity, a vital element for any new business. It will take place on Monday 7 February 2005 from 6pm – 9pm, and will also be held at the Peterhead Business Centre. Joyce Duncan, director of operations at Enterprise North East Trust, says, "For people thinking of starting their own business, the Introduction To Business seminar is a must to get them on the right track. We will be taking delegates through the main points they need to consider when setting up in business and identifying sources of support and advice to help them get going, and make sure they survive and develop. At Enterprise we can assess personal development and training needs to allow people to run their business effectively, and provide personalised information to suit individual requirements. Delegates will be able to raise any queries they may have and will be assigned their own business advisor." Joyce continues, "The Ideas Exploration workshop will give attendees the chance to learn how to increase their creativity, and most importantly how brainstorming and bluesky thinking can unlock that elusive creative edge. We all need an occasional jolt to shake us from routine patterns, to force us to re-think our problems, and to stimulate us to ask the right questions of ourselves."Allan Akers of Peterhead based Omnipix who recently started his company has found the advice and support of his Enterprise North East Trust business advisor, invaluable, "Taking the steps to set up in business is something I’ve always wanted to do. It was a daunting prospect but with the help of my business advisor I could discuss any concerns I had and go through my plans for setting up with them. My business advisor has consistently given me professional, impartial and constructive advice on every step of my business journey. With their support I have taken steps to secure funding for my business and the workshop event has put me in touch with other like minded individuals to share my business experiences with."
