Enterprise Invites North East Businesses to Ask the Experts

Date: 23rd September 2004

Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) is holding an ‘Ask The Experts’ networking event on Wednesday 6th October 2004 at the Waterside Inn, Peterhead from 6pm onwards.  The evening event, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Scotland, will give delegates the opportunity to talk to local experts about some of the key issues affecting local businesses.

Delegates will gain expert advice from local business experts on a range of important topics including, taxation, human resources, business development, business and tax planning, assessing finance and legal issues affecting small businesses. Attendees will be split into small groups and allocated 15 minutes to ask questions or raise issues with other local business owners.  Each expert will hold discussions on their specialist subject.  Delegates will have opportunity to move around the room and speak to the experts most concerned with the issues affecting their business field, allowing them to maximise their time in order to gain sufficient and relevant business advice.

Ian Begg, of Enterprise says, “For business owners, this event is an ideal opportunity to gain expert advice and talk through important issues that may affect them.  As our panel of experts are specialists in their chosen field, and can raise awareness of the important issues which may affect local businesses, delegates will be better prepared for any potential situations that may arise.  The atmosphere of the event will be comfortable and informal, to allow attendees to take full advantage of the opportunities to network, share ideas and meet with other local business owners.”

Experts on hand for the evening include:

Rachel Aitken of Croner Consulting Scotland – Employment Law

James Smith of Acumen Accountants and Advisors – Financial Planning

Jenny Coleman and Graham Bazucki of the Inland Revenue - Taxation

Gareth Hassel and Bruce Hay of HM Customs and Excise – VAT

James Downie of Stronachs Solicitors – Legal Advice

Also on hand will be representatives from Enterprise North East Trust and Lloyds TSB Scotland.

James Smith of Acumen, which is based in Aberdeen and Peterhead, says, “I will be giving delegates an insight into the services that we can provide such as, preparing business plans and tax planning.  We have contact with businesses at varying stages of development and allow business owners to be in control of their finances at all times, through regular meetings.  Attendees can ask me questions on the range of issues that we deal with at Acumen, therefore giving a better understanding and awareness of the ways we can support them throughout their businesses’ development.”

Karen Clark, of Enterprise says, “The event is primarily for businesses that have recently started up, although any company can benefit from attending.  The range of experts we have for the event allows for a varied and interesting discussion and professional advice for delegates attending the event.”

The event is free of charge, due to the support of Lloyds TSB Scotland, with a light buffet being served during the evening.  To book a place for the event, please contact Karen Clark at Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) on 01467 672535 or email Karen.clark@enetrust.com.
