Leadership Excellence “Determined to Succeed” Following Tender Win

Leading experiential learning provider, Leadership Excellence has been awarded the tender by Aberdeenshire Council to develop and deliver experiential education programmes to children throughout the area at their dedicated outdoor learning facility at Thainstone near Inverurie.  The six figure sum will see Leadership Excellence develop experiential education programmes over the next seven months with a view to delivery from April 2005 onwards.

Commenting on the successful bid, Duncan Bonner, Operations Director of Leadership Excellence says, “These are exciting times for Leadership Excellence and we are delighted to be involved in such an important programme for Aberdeenshire’s children and young people. Winning this contract is recognition of all our team’s hard work.”

Leadership Excellence has been awarded the contract following the launch of the “Enterprise in Education” plan in Aberdeenshire last week by Lewis Macdonald, Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning. The Aberdeenshire Enterprise in Education Plan, will help to deliver the objectives outlined in the Scottish Executive’s Determined to Succeed Initiative.

Hamish Vernal, Aberdeenshire Council’s Director of Education, says, “The Experiential Learning programmes provided by Leadership Excellence will form an integral part of Aberdeenshire Council’s strategy to deliver the Enterprise in Education initiative. Leadership Excellence has demonstrated their vast experience in the adult education learning field. They unquestionably have the proper skill, knowledge and expertise to deliver learning aligned to enterprise, to children and young people throughout Aberdeenshire.” 

“Our experiential education programmes delivered at our high and low ropes course at Thainstone will mix class-room theory with real hands-on activity.  Learning by doing can lead to an increase in retention of what is being taught,” says Mhairi Cousins, Operations Manager of Leadership Excellence.

“Our programmes will help young people identify, nurture and develop many enterprising values such as leadership, team building, communication and negotiation skills.  This programme will not only help today’s young people develop skills integral to business success, but society in general, developing the self confidence and the belief in their abilities to succeed in whatever they choose to do.”
