Conditions of Entry


  • Applicants must be based in Aberdeen City or Aberdeenshire at time of entry and award presentation
  • Applicants can not enter a category they have previously won.
  • New Businesses are those which have been trading for less than 1 year at 01 June 2007
  • Young Businesses are those which have been trading for less than 3 years at 01 June 2007
  • Business Growth applicants must have been trading for more than 3 years at 01 June 2007 and be able to show significant development in one or more of the following areas; Training; marketing; people development; ecommerce; international trade
  • The Alick Buchanan Smith Spirit of Enterprise Award applicants must have been trading for more than 5 years at 01 June 2007. it is open to companies and organisations which can demonstrate commitment to the community in which they operate.
  • Sir Ian Wood Award for Innovation, open to businesses which have successfully developed innovative products, technologies or services, or which have developed innovative ways of doing business with customers.
  • Completed applications must be submitted by 12 noon on 9th March 2007; all applicants will be advised of the outcome of their submission.
  • Application information will be treated as confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than judging the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • To assist in the judging process, judges will invite short listed companies for interview for further information.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • The winners will be the businesses that, in the opinion of the judges, demonstrate the greatest fulfilment of the category criteria.
  • Winners will not be announced until the evening of the Awards Dinner, Thursday 7th June 2007, at Ardoe House Hotel.
  • All finalists and winners consent to take part in PR and publicity relating to the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise; Tricker PR will contact all finalists to gather individual information and quotes for future press releases and features.
  • The winner of each category will be given the opportunity to submit an application for the Scottish Enterprise National Business Awards competition in 2008.
