Westhill Entrepreneur Will Be ‘Xtreme’ Competition At The Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise Westhill-based entrepreneur, Graeme Duncan, has reached the finals of the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise for the third year running. The 35 year old, who launched Xtreme Business Solutions in February 2003, will find out if he has won the Ian Davidson Award for Entrepreneurship at a gala award evening at Ardoe House Hotel on Thursday 9 June 2005. The Awards recognise business achievement in companies of all sizes and enterprising individuals and is organised by Enterprise North East Trust and sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland and Business Gateway (in association with Scottish Enterprise Grampian). Graeme established his business, Xtreme Business Solutions, which designs and installs structured cabling, fibre optic and network hardware solutions for businesses throughout the UK. It was the first company in Scotland to be accredited to install, commission and service advanced LaserBit Technology. Graeme is also one of a handful of people in Scotland to hold the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) qualification, which is one of the highest and most prestigious qualifications available for this type of work. In its first year of operation the company secured contracts of £200,000 and now has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Poland with eleven staff. Graeme says of his award nomination, “I have been astonished with the speed at which Xtreme has grown over the last two years. Entrepreneurs are distinguished by having lots of determination, boundless energy, enthusiasm and, above all else, courage in their vision. To be nominated for an entrepreneur award means a great deal to me and I am looking forward to attending the awards evening to meet other business success stories. With eleven staff, the company’s success is not just down to me anymore and our success is a tribute to their hard work as well.” Graeme will come up against Fraserburgh based Graeme Anderson of boxportable solutions and Inverurie based Ian Stuart of Digit New Media in the award for entrepreneurship. Xtreme Business Solutions was one of three companies short-listed for the New Start category at last year’s awards. < back to Ian Davidson Award for Entrepreneurship Finalists |
