| Ian Davidson Award for Entrepreneurship Winner Buchan company, boxportable, Is In Line To Land The Ian Davidson Award for Entrepreneurship Awards At The Grampian Awards For Business Enterprise 2005 boxportable, a Buchan based company which provides bespoke IT solutions to small to medium businesses throughout the UK, is one of the finalists in the 6th annual Grampian Awards For Business Enterprise. The Fraserburgh based business has been in operation for five years and is among three finalists in the Ian Davidson Award for Entrepreneurship category which recognises a young entrepreneur which has shown genuine flair, risk taking and business achievement before the age of 35. While still at Fraserburgh Academy, Graeme Anderson, Director of boxportable, began fixing friends and families computers, a hobby that he did mainly at weekends. As he progressed into university he developed his hobby into a career, investing all of his savings, time and student loan to get the business venture off the ground. Now five years on, Graeme has grown his company from a part time hobby into a fully fledged business that is growing year on year, servicing clients across the UK within a variety of industries. |  |
boxportable specialises in three key areas of ebusiness, business networking and professional website design and the company offers a unique approach to the IT sector offering cost effective, practical IT solutions for SME’s (Small and Medium Enterprises). The company offers flexible service to its clients, carrying out maintenance work at evenings or weekends, in order to minimise disruption to the their working environment. boxportable is a client facing company and to help their clients meet their IT requirements is its mission, helping them to ultimately achieve increased productivity and efficiency.
Commenting on his nomination as a finalist in the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise, Graeme says, “To be nominated for such a prestigious award is a huge confidence boost and, if we were to win, it would be absolutely fantastic. A huge amount of time, effort and hardwork has gone into developing the company to make it the growing business that it is today. To even be a finalist in the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise is a great achievement. The company is still relatively young in the IT industry, but we have managed to consistently grow and develop the business, demonstrating our commitment and success within an industry that can be quite volatile.”

I am very committed to supporting the local economy and with the downturn in the traditional industries of the Buchan area, I saw this as an opportunity to support the area.”
